A Million Seeds of Joy
A very special September series to help you plant a JOY garden of your own.
Friends reading this in your inbox or on the app, it would mean the world if you’d take a moment to tap the 🤍 emoji and/or share this post to help it get seen by more people. I have a dream of growing this space into the kindest corner on the internet, something that supports your creativity, connection, and courage even more in the days we are in. I can only do what I do because of you, and I am so grateful you are here.
I feel like I blinked and it’s already slipping into autumn. The light is more golden now. It is below 75°F most mornings.
The world around feels heavy many days with the weight of the stories it is being forced to carry.
So I’m going to repeat myself because I need to be reminded too.
Joy doesn’t trickle down from above. It rises up from within.
JOY is an act of resistance to everything that would diminish the worth of our humanity or impede our ability to flourish together.
Choosing joy as relentless defiance is a transformational act. It may not change the hard things, but it changes us.
Joy is not a denial of our circumstances or the hard things we are facing; it is a strategic response that gives us the power to keep going through them.
Unprecedented times call for unreasonable joy. And I have a daring belief that that can change everything.
Many of you know we got our start together here with our 100 Days of Wonder community creative challenge.
In many ways, we are going back to our roots with #amillionseedsofjoy.
Pun completely intended. 🌱
Here’s what to expect.
First, it is free and will be delivered to your inbox. Every 2-3 days I am going to share a post here that covers one tiny whimsical action or practice rooted in neuroscience to help you access more joy.
I’m calling these posts our Field Notes. (Your girl loves a theme.)
These posts are like seeds. Plant them and grow a garden of joy. We start September 8th!
What do you need to participate?
A free subscription to The Wonder Habit® so the posts land in your inbox. That’s it.
Annnnnd maybe a friend to do this with. That might be fun too *wink*… shameless plug to ask you to share this with someone you think would enjoy and benefit from it.
I’m going to be sharing my art journaling practice as part of these posts, but you do not need any set art supplies or skills to join in.
I’m keeping this very basic so everyone can participate with what they have around them.
And the comments will be open on each post so you can share your joys.
Our very first Creatogether is next week!
For our Prompt & Ponder creative community, I am so excited to announce our first live Zoom Creatogether™ is September 11 at 7 PM East Coast US time. Details will be finding their way to your inboxes Sunday/Monday.
I’m going to be sharing why I am moving from seasonal “bucket” lists of ideas to a monthly joy list. Friends, this one shift alone is enough to plant a garden of joy all year long.
And then we will create our September joy lists together!
There will be a replay posted after we finish in case you can’t make it.
But y’all, that’s not all. ⬇️
I love Septembers. It feels like the year starts over again. The smell of fresh school supplies and coffee brewing. Mornings I can step outside before 7 am and not sweat. Just so much goodness.
But I’m going to speak for myself when I say I could use more good ol’ fashioned fun and a chance to laugh with friends. Maybe you do too?
SO, I’m adding one more event to our Prompt & Ponder community calendar for September. It’s called Prompt & Play. (Because themes… I know. 🤣)
🗓️ September 25, 2025, we are going to have an autumn Sketchbook Game Night on Zoom.
You don’t actually need a sketchbook… just the willingness to try new things and have a great time with some creative shenanigans that require no prior skill or fancy supplies.
If you have thought about trying our paid subscription option where I send you creative prompts each Saturday and you have full access to everything in our archives, September is a great month to give it a try.
You are always welcome to do what I do with Netflix and do the upgrade/downgrade two-step to give it a try.
But our Million Seeds of Joy series is completely free. Just make sure you are subscribed so it lands in your inbox!
I am so, so glad you are here.
Seeing as September is a time for new things, pop down in the comments and introduce yourself!
Gratefully,
Michelle, you are such an inspiration. Thank you for You.
Tia
Your positive messages are like a light in a dark tunnel, always welcome and appreciated!
