Day 002 of 100 | Some of the journeys that matter most start inside us.
#100DaysofWonder | What does your inner explorer want to try?
Friends, here we are at day 002! I love reading your thoughts and insights. It feels a little like being all cozied up around a fire with our favorite warm beverages and talking late into the night. Thank you for jumping into this with me!

PROMPT | DAY 002
What does your inner explorer want to try?
MY REFLECTION:
My day 2 started with a list.
Plein-air painting at a blue spring before it is so hot I’d melt. Which is in about 3 weeks time.
A local bookstore crawl
A day trip to small towns I’ve never been to
More sleep
A solid routine that captures both dawn and dusk in the usual order
More organization so I can find the art supply when the idea lands.
But these things are largely external. I used to say, “All the journeys that matter most start inside of us.”
I don’t anymore. Because “all” and “none” are words that squelch curiosity before it gets started.
One of the most profound journeys I’ve ever been on did trek through my inner world, but it didn’t start there. It started with a plastic sheet landing on the windshield of the car I rode in, causing the accident that took my words and injured my brain in 2018.
The older I get, the less the world appears in absolutes. The more life shows up in nuance and shades and spectrums. And the meaning is in the melding that often happens off-map.
Your turn. Share your thoughts in the comments below. And if you create something to this prompt you’d like to share, look for my Substack note sharing this post a little later today.
All my love,

My daughter and I revisited the idea yesterday of finding and photographing abandoned buildings. Now to actually do it!
I hope to be up early to walk and watch more sunrises and listen to the birdsong, paint an abstract, explore more hiking trails, knit a sweater and plant new perennials in my garden.
