PROMPT | DAY 010
What would you change about your creative setup?
MY REFLECTION:
Eventually I’d love to move north, but until I do… I love my space. But it has gotten crowded and cluttered as health issues really kept me from being on top of things.
It’s my goal this Spring to give some deep attention to clearing out and organizing my studio as well as the rest of my little Florida cottage.
I am deeply impacted by my surroundings, so clutter feels stressful and suffocating at times.
Right now it feels a bit overwhelming… but all I really need to do is just start. So that’s a big part of what I want to do in March before the hot weather gets here.
Once my world gets more organized, I get to start giving it my attention to turn it into an adorable cottage. I can’t wait to start painting my door frames and adding so many whimsical elements. And sharing them with y’all!
PS. I found the most amazing free PDF book from 1885 on Victorian embroidery patterns that could also be gorgeous painting templates. Here’s a link from Archive.org
Share your thoughts in the comments. What would you like to change in your creative setup? What’s one big dream? And what are smaller changes you could make right now or in the near future?
All my love,

The image of the plate with paint along the edges, brought me back to Switzerland where I learned how to paint porcelaine (in the European method~think Meissen and Sevres). I had to know what the powdered pigment (after I made it paintable by mixing the powdered pigment with different oils) looked once it was fired (because they didn't necessarily look the same). I fired a number of plates showing dozens of colors just to be able to keep track (till I learned how they changed). I don't paint porcelaine any more I sold my huge kiln when we left TX. I donated literally POUNDS of very expensive pigment because I could not sell it.
Your current situation with clutter is something I battle with every day. There are days when I can't even walk into my studio because the floor, every flat surface and most walls are covered with projects or pieces of projects "to be". I have moved a LOT. When I am in a new place that typically means a new artistic endeavor (because what I WAS doing is not available where I might have moved to)...decorative acrylic painting in CT, porcelaine painting in Switzerland, watercolor painting in NJ, Stained Glass in FL...I could go on and on. I am now trying my hand at collage and bookbinding in OR, which creates LOTS of clutter and requires space. There ARE days when I feel I am literally drowning surrounded by my stuff. My only solution is a larger space...but that isn't going to happen anytime soon.

Build a new room? We moved 10 years ago downsizing from 5 bedrooms to 2. To a tiny cape.
When I work it’s at the dining room table. I have a buffet that I put all my art supplies in.
It’s not convenient and I’m still trying to figure it out.
I can’t leave anything out and there’s no where else to work.
Every room is tiny.
So I can’t answer this question yet.
