At one time (before 2020) , I posted often and took part in challenges, memes, and shared my artwork.
But then my hubby required more of my caregiving and I was often too tired to create. I felt that because few responded to my posts , was it even worth it to post?
I'm slowly returning to creating -small collages and monthly poems. And for now, it is enough.
The thing that has made me more confident in getting my art out there is making artist trading cards. I can do a variety of things, experiment with media, and share/trade with so many awesome people. The set size (2.5 by 3.5 inches) also means I can collect other’s art in albums, or display around me.
I used to love creating ATCs - took part in the ATC forum trades for several years - and have lots of cards to show for it. Now I'm creating more, but mostly in small journals.
It gives me joy and confidence to share my work. I paint cards, 100's of them. I am a letter writer and this is a great way to send a message. One of my favorites is to make mini cards, keep them in my purse and place on a windshield or in a side window, always with a positive vibe. The mini cards are a surprise and a little gift. I've witnessed many smiles.
By sharing my work on Insta I have gained more selfconfidence. I was taught to call myself an artist! I love the comment and would like more of them. At the moment I am embroidering a present for some people that follow me, so I am not sharing. And I really miss it!
What does sharing your work mean to you?
It’s definitely vulnerable and scary. And always will be.
It is fun eavesdropping on people who might be commenting on as it hangs on a wall amidst others.
Then when it’s bought, or awarded an honour, I feel like they made a mistake.
I really put myself down especially if I start comparing my work to others
The positive is how it’s a morale booster, it gives me more confidence, it challenges me to do even better, and it just makes me happy!

What a wonderful way to spread joy.
