A white plume moth in my garden yesterday (Devon, UK), so delicate, so beautiful. Watching the long quiet sunsets over Dartmoor - still light at 10pm. My pale pink hollyhock is flowering, my tomatoes are reddening. Blackcurrants from my garden made into tea in a glass mug, catching the light. And a mystery plant in the garden with little white flowers which turns out to be Enchanter's Nightshade. How magical is that!
I have been keeping both a gratitude journal as well as a small wonder journal with photos. My favorite small wonders this summer is watching the sunlight stream through my windows and change thru the day as well as watching the light and growth of my flower beds. This has been one of the most difficult years for me and wonder has helped me see the hope, magic and joy that I can still find in this crazy world.
I don’t have a yard but I have a large balcony covered in plants, this year I decided to start a vegetable garden for the 1st time. I didn’t plan it well, I just threw packs of seeds and hoped they’d grow. Well they took. I’ve got peapods growing a lot of zucchini plants and much more, still in the growing stage. . I’ve been using My mixed lettuces and the tomatoes I grow hydroponically inside, already in sandwiches and salads. It’s so nice to have fresh home grown vegetables. Plus I’m a little nerdy and get so excited just watching them grow.
That is amazing!!! Watching seeds breakthrough and become what they are meant to be brings me such joy! Growing our own food in any measure is so healing.
The lupine blooming along one of our town’s most popular walking path have brought so much joy! Also wild birdsong, hanging laundry outdoors, sunny walks with my dog in the woods, eating meals outdoors.
As I am a very recent stroke survivor, all things are small miracles — my therapy pup’s eager chocolate eyes when I greet him each morning; the two petite box turtles coming from opposite sides of a country road as if they are Romeo and Juliet; a brilliantly incessant call from a wood thrush just outside my bedroom window at 5 a.m.; successfully poking dripping ice cream into my waiting mouth; and the kind young man who patiently held the door for me on my first post stroke grocery trip. All life is a miracle — be it gut wrenching or celestially magnificent. While it is easy to get caught up in the earthly drama, it’s nice, sometimes, to recall we are but spiritual beings confined for a brief time in a limited body. I’ve enjoyed so much being inspired to see the small wonders… merci!
I hear that. I am an artist forced to live in a body twisted with Scoliosis, I have a curve down the spine and then the spine itself twists the other way.
I have an eye for beauty and I collage and paste and paint just about anything I can gather into my hands. I worship my Creator by drawing beauty from forgotten and discarded pieces of paper, fibers and sometimes organic debri.
When I create art I literally forget my back pain and limited mobility and thats a wonderful blessing.
You will be in my prayers as God brings you into each new day, and shows you these many gifts He is sharing with you dear friend.
How lovely to find beauty in so many wonderful ways! It is a gift I admire greatly and stand in awe of the eyes that can see and the hands that share!!! I will keep you in my prayers as well! Prayer makes all the difference! 💜
I can no longer watch or listen to the news. I tried limiting my exposure, that didn’t work. I do. Not want to sound like an ostrich with my head in the sand but my health is more important. I do my share to make this world better by connecting with nature. Feeding and supplying water for my birds and other wildlife who venture through my yard. I do pesticide free gardening and donate to wildlife charities. Greeting and meeting people as I travel always with a smile.
I love this and live by this:
And if, when it is all over
I’m asked what I did with my life. I want to be able to say …
This literally made me tear up. I've always said that if I get to the end of the road and have lived inside of Love and had Love live inside of me than it will be a life well-lived. Every small kindness ripples outward!

I would love to see some photos...
I’m not sure how to post photos on here. My zucchini leaves are bigger than my hand though 😁

Lupine! I hope one day soon I will be able to see such magic in person! The woods, bird song, just a dream!
