I want to tell you the story of a little red notebook that changed everything. It’s an ordinary book. But it holds an extraordinary story. For years, it was not safe for me to wander in my own head. It wasn’t safe to just be with myself. Life had washed out the path back to the center of my being, and without it, I didn’t know how even to begin to write or create or dream again.
Thank you for this. I sustained a TBI over a year ago. I've been unable to work as a nurse due to the very things you mention, especially trying to find words!
I'm also an artist and am just starting back into the habit of creating. I feel like I have been frozen for the last 14 months, but I am finally beginning to thaw just a bit.
What a wild ride this TBI has taken me on - so much frustration, but I am giving myself so much grace through this struggle, and being gentle with myself is a new skill; I love myself more now than I ever have, which is beautiful.
I do not yet know what my little red notebook is but I’m so grateful you found yours and you have shared your journey to where you are now. I only found you via Instagram a couple of months ago and already you have been a wonderful influence on me. I’m slowly going through all your posts here on Substack.
