Our One-Word Wonder Prompts for Week 11 of the #100DaysofWonder
Because we have over 16K posts on the #100daysofwonder2024 tag on Instagram, if you are sharing there this week (regardless of what week you are painting) let’s use both #100DaysofWonderWeek11 and #100DaysofWonder2024 so we can find each other better. A huge thank you to Julie from @littles_and_inches who suggested this last week!
We are Heading Into the Final Third…
Can you believe it? It feels like it has flown by and barely started all at the same time. Just me?
I am so curious:
What are some of the things you have learned about your creative practice in our time together?
What have you found to be the most valuable part of this experience so far?
What questions about creativity or wonder or making art have come up for you?
Where would you love to receive more support? (ie. How can I help?)
If you are so inclined, please drop your thoughts in the comments.
02. | Love & Learn
One Thing I Loved, Learned, & Leaned Into This Week
LOVED: Playing with Substack’s new AI image generator. Some of the results are hilarious. Some are almost accurate. Most have that AI kinda plastic look. I have 🌶 spicy opinions on AI and art. Artist friends, I’m not afraid of it coming for my job. The more tech-driven and sped-up we become, the more hand-crafted, human-created work will be valued. We may have to change the way we communicate our value, but our value itself will not be diminished in the long run.
LEARNED: Creativity is an embodied practice. You can increase your creativity by an average of 60% by walking.
LEANED INTO: Putting my hands in the dirt and planting more things in the garden. It is a big way I help my brain slow down and rest. And that is super important for creativity to thrive. How do you unplug and let your brain have downtime? I wrote an article about why that is true. It’s below in the Reading Roundup.
03. | Community Corner
Updates & News: The practical things. Announcements. Things to get excited about.
The 100-Day Project will be wrapping up in about a month, but we as a community will have just gotten started. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be introducing more of what’s happening and letting you know what you can expect.
While hyper me wants to spill all the ever-lovin’ creativi-tea at once, I also don’t want to overwhelm anyone.
So I’m going to reign in my horses and just share some general things to know.
While this project will end, The Wonder Habit™ is just beginning.
There will still be a weekly email for our free readers with a weekly prompt and something to ponder. It will look a little different than this does. And I’ll likely be writing a bit more organically in it. Because I really love the whole pouring courage on your creative dreams focus. Chief Encouragement Officer over here. So there will be more of that.
For our paid TWH subscribers, buckle in, we are about to go on an ad-ven-ture. Here are just a few bits and bobs:
I’m working on our first masterclass on building an inspiration archive… and how to use it to banish creative blocks and access your creativity even when you are short on time.
Basic color mixing for watercolors will also be dropping soon in our Learning Library. Filming this week!
A Zoom hangout sesh is in the works. Details are coming.
Our next project will be starting June 9th. More coming on THAT very soon.
THURSDAY 05/02 is our weekly SHARE & CELEBRATE Thread: It will go live around 12 PM EST and stay open until Saturday afternoon so you can post your favorite work from the week (related to the 100 Days of Wonder).
