Weekly Wonder Drop | Week 6 Prompts
We have a Wonder-filled Glow-Up Happening This Week
Well, my friends, we are getting a major UPGRADE this week. I’ve been listening to all the feedback you’ve graciously sent my way over our first few weeks together and I’ve been sprucing up this space to make it easier to navigate (it’s a work in process) and more user-friendly. This email looks a teeny bit different. Let us know how you like the new format in the comments!
In This Weekly Wonder Drop
Prompt & Ponder: Our One-Word Wonder Prompts for Week 6 of the #100DaysofWonder & a few thoughts from me on the journey.
Freshly Pressed: Links to content that got published on The Wonder Habit™ recently you might have missed.
Weekly LOVE & LEARN: Where I share 1 thing I loved, 1 thing I learned, and 1 thing I leaned into (tried out, took action, explored).
Community Corner: News, updates, and practical tidbits.
Open Studio members… your extended content is now coming in its very own separate email in just a few minutes.
Can you believe it is week 6 already? That many of you have completed 35 days of making space for more creativity? Do you even know how INCREDIBLE that is?
I’m counting all 35 days for you even if you’ve only painted or sketched or written for 1 of them.
Because sometimes living itself is our most creative act.

Our One-Word Wonder Prompts for Week 6 of the #100DaysofWonder
Sometimes, it’s not the picture or painting that needs adjusting. It’s the frame around the painting. Most of my creative time this week has been spent rethinking this space. In a sense the frame around the content here.
My art-making has largely happened as I embellished mats for tiny landscapes left over from last year’s 100-Day Project. They were the paintings that never got purchased.
They sat in a drawer, then in a box, then scattered in my packing area because I needed to find one of them that got lodged under a pile of papers.
You might say they are the stragglers. The ones who didn’t get picked for team sports. The ones that got sidelined. I know a bit what that feels like.
This week as I took inventory for an upcoming art show, I began to play with painting on mats that complemented them, creating the tiniest embellishments and patterns.
And the reframing brought a rebirth. A resurrection. A new way of being and relating to the world around them.
I know the same has been true for my creativity.
What could you change around how you create this week that might help create more space for art-making?
It could be as simple as deciding to paint with 2 colors this week. Or choosing to go outside for 5 minutes before you paint. Or sketching on the couch rather than at the table.
I think of the iconic scene in Dead Poets Society when Robin Williams’s character has all the boys stand on their desks for a different perspective.
Drop your ideas in the comments. What could you try?

One Thing I Loved, Learned, & Leaned Into This Week
“What if we stopped celebrating being busy as a measurement of importance? What if instead we celebrated how much time we had spent listening, pondering, meditating, and enjoying time with the most important people in our lives?”
― Greg McKeown, Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less
LOVED: Reading YOUR responses to our Subscriber Survey! You can take it right here if you haven’t… it takes 5-7 minutes and your thoughts are invaluable.
(Open Studio members you have your own version coming in just a few moments in your email.)LEARNED: You can paint on photo mats. I may never have a plain framing mat again. Gouache worked amazingly as did softcore colored pencils like Prismacolor.
LEANED INTO: Thinking deeply about how I can simplify this space to the point it is effortless and elegant for all of us. I’m so looking forward to diving deep into all your survey responses.

THURSDAY 03/28 is our weekly SHARE & CELEBRATE Thread: It will go live at 12 PM EST and stay open until Saturday afternoon so you can post your favorite work from the week (related to the 100 Days of Wonder).
I’m editing a VIDEO explaining more about The Wonder Habit™ and how it got started. That will be coming out this week as well.
Thank you again for being here.
All my love,
PS. Open Studio members your content is coming in a few moments in its very own email. See you there!
